Creating Different Office Identities With One Glass Partition System

Creating Different Office Identities With One Glass Partition System

A multi-floor office does not always need a different partition system on every level to create a distinct identity. Sometimes, the variation comes from how the same system is finished, detailed and integrated into the surrounding interior.

For this pharmaceutical company in Singapore, the office spans three floors, each with its own design direction. Across all three levels, ISP’s SOLO P30 Glass Panel and SOLO Framed Door were used to create a consistent glazed partition language, while differences in frame finish, door hardware and selected accessories gave each floor its own character.

This approach allowed the workplace to feel connected as one office, without making every level look the same.

On two of the floors, the SOLO P30 partitions and SOLO Framed Doors were finished in Anodized Silver. The lighter finish works naturally with the brighter interior palette, giving the partitions a clean and understated presence. The aluminium frames define each room clearly without visually weighing down the space, while the glazing allows light and sightlines to continue through the office.

Within the same system, details were also used to introduce variation. Most of the SOLO Framed Doors were fitted with lever handles, creating a consistent configuration across the rooms. In one space, the client selected a glass power pole together with a pull handle instead. The glass power pole allows the required services to be integrated without introducing a visually heavy element into the glazing, while the pull handle gives the doorway a more streamlined expression compared with the lever-handle configuration used elsewhere.

On the other floor, the same SOLO system takes on a very different character through a Sandtex Black finish. Here, the darker framing works with the richer timber tones, neutral surfaces and stronger architectural language of the interior. Rather than sitting quietly within the space, the black profiles create more contrast and give greater definition to the glazed rooms and door openings.

The difference between the two treatments is noticeable even though the underlying partition system remains the same. Anodized Silver creates a lighter and more restrained expression, while Sandtex Black gives the system a stronger and more graphic presence. In both cases, the finish responds to the surrounding interior rather than competing with it.

Creating variation through finishes and details

A glass partition system can take on very different expressions depending on how it is detailed.

In a previous project showcase, we explored how the COMO Glass Panel was used in curved, segmented and straight configurations to create visual variation within the same workplace. In this project, the approach is different. The geometry and core partition system remain consistent, while the visual identity changes through finishes, hardware and accessories.

Anodized Silver creates a lighter and more understated expression, while Sandtex Black gives the partitions a stronger visual presence. Different handle selections and the use of a glass power pole introduce another layer of variation at room level. Beyond these two finishes, the SOLO system can also be specified in other frame colours, giving the partition system greater flexibility to respond to different interior palettes.

This approach works particularly well in a multi-floor workplace. The same system creates continuity across the office, while changes in finish and detailing allow each level to respond to its own interior direction. The aluminium frames provide a consistent architectural line across the three floors, while the clear glazing helps maintain visual openness between enclosed rooms and the surrounding workplace.

That visual continuity is supported by the functional benefits of the system as well. The acoustic glass helps create quieter enclosed spaces for meetings and focused work without cutting them off visually from the rest of the office. The glazed surfaces are also straightforward to maintain, which is especially useful when the same system is used across multiple floors and rooms.

Rather than treating consistency as uniformity, the project shows how one glass partition system can support different interior directions while remaining recognisable throughout the workplace. The common frame proportions and clear glazing create a shared architectural language, while finishes, hardware and accessories allow each floor to develop its own character. Together, these choices allow the same SOLO system to support acoustic performance, visual openness and ease of maintenance, while adapting to different interior identities.
