Responding to Different Room Shapes
One of the most distinctive spaces is a curved meeting room positioned along a circulation route. Instead of introducing a conventional straight frontage, the COMO glazing follows the rounded geometry of the room. This allows the meeting space to sit more naturally within the surrounding layout while creating a smoother transition around the partition line.
The curved glass configuration also demonstrates that the double glazed system does not have to be limited to conventional rectangular meeting rooms. The geometry can be adapted to follow the design of the space while retaining the same COMO system used throughout the rest of the project.
Adapting One Double Glazed System Across Different Spaces
As the layout changes, the same COMO system takes on different configurations to suit each room. Across the more linear sections of the office, straight glazed panels are used for meeting and discussion rooms of varying sizes. Shorter partition runs suit rooms with more compact frontages, while longer runs are used where a larger meeting space is required.
Where the room geometry changes direction, segmented panels allow the double glazed partition to follow the layout more closely. Instead of changing to a different partition system, the COMO glazing is divided into carefully planned sections that respond to the shape of the room.
This allows the partition design to follow the floorplan rather than requiring every meeting space to conform to the same dimensions.
Making Better Use of the Available Space
Using different geometries within the same partition system also gives designers greater flexibility when planning meeting spaces alongside circulation routes, shared areas and other workplace functions.
A curved configuration may respond better to a rounded corner or changing circulation path, while a straight partition can provide a clear frontage where the layout is more regular. Segmented glazing offers another option where the partition line needs to change direction.
The length of the partition run can also be adjusted according to the available frontage, allowing smaller discussion rooms and larger meeting rooms to be planned within the same overall workplace.
Rather than treating the partition as a fixed format, the system can therefore be adapted around the spatial requirements of each room.
Maintaining a Consistent Design Language
Although the rooms differ in shape and size, the repeated use of COMO Glass Panels and COMO Framed Doors with spacers creates visual consistency throughout the project.
The black framing provides a common architectural detail across the curved, segmented and straight configurations. Patterned frosting is also repeated across the meeting spaces, providing partial visual privacy while maintaining a consistent finish.
The framed doors are integrated with the surrounding double glazed panels, allowing the door and partition to read as one coordinated system.
This becomes particularly important where several meeting rooms are positioned close to one another. Each room can respond differently to the floorplan without appearing disconnected from the wider workplace.
One System, Adapted to the Floorplan
This project demonstrates the flexibility of a single double glazed partition system rather than the use of multiple systems.
Across the workplace, the COMO Glass Panel and COMO Framed Door with spacers were adapted into curved, segmented and straight configurations, with the partition runs adjusted to suit the dimensions of each room.
By allowing the glazing configuration to respond to the floorplan, meeting and discussion spaces of different shapes and sizes could be created while retaining a consistent visual language and acoustic approach throughout the office.
